Well hello everybody! It has been a while, hasn't it? Sorry about that!

Wedding preparations are going well. We're down to the planning of specifics; picking music, building the slideshow, designing the invitations, etc. Things are going well. We're also mid-way into our premarital counseling, which has also been good. Not easy, but good. We've come up on some hard things, or some poorly-put-by-Tré things that have led to frustrating communication, but we've worked through those things with help from God and our pastor. Things are going well!

Part of the reason I haven't blogged is that Kelly's had a really rough; no, eventful couple of weeks. Which means, of course, that I've had a really rough; no, eventful couple of weeks. Here are a few things that have happened:

  1. Kelly got a new job! Her position at Multnomah has evolved out of her skill set, so she began to look around for something else that may fit her a little better. Well, my soon-to-be-bride is now working for a fashion magazine in Vancouver! She's landed a job at Classic Style Magazine. She'll probably be more specific over on her blog, but I believe she's a PR intern. She gets to use her love of - and education in - writing, and she gets paid for it!
  2. Kelly's had an odd looking wound on her nose for a while now. We thought it may be an allergic reaction to her nose ring, as it's located just below it, but she went in to have it checked out. It's kinda scary to hear your fiancee say she had a biopsy today. Well, as it turns out, it's more scary to hear the results: She has skin cancer. It's scheduled to be removed the first week of May. Please pray for her. The doctors are very reassuring that it's not difficult or very risky, but you really can't take much weight out of saying "I have skin cancer." It's difficult for me to find a balance between reassuring her ("Everything's going to be fine") and acknowledging the fear ("This is scary!"). I don't want to ignore or invalidate her emotions, but I want to support her and not indulge those fears very much.
  3. We have a house! Our friends the Sticklers have recently bought a house in Vancouver, and the house they've been renting is up for grabs. Well, it was up for grabs! We went to talk to the landlords, who are this really adorable elderly couple that live next door, and by the end of the talk we had applications filled out and are ready to move in! They're graciously letting us rent for half-price for May and June, as I'll be living there alone until Kelly and I get married in July. Hey, any guys out there need a place to live for the months of May and June? I'm looking for a roommate for just those couple months. Let me know if you or anyone you know is interested!
  4. Kelly has to leave Multnomah. (See #1 above) I know this has already been mentioned, but this aspect is of equal emotional value to the rest, so it gets its own number. She's been there for a while now, and has many loving relationships with people there that are going to get harder to maintain, as time with those people won't be as common. Plus, she'll be giving up medical insurance, which is huge in light of #2...
  5. We have engagement photos! We met with our photographer, who graciously met with us on Easter afternoon, to get some engagement shots. We'll be choosing one of these lucky pics for use in our invitations, which will be coming out in the next month. Or, couple weeks, if we're good... Wanna see some?

This one's my favorite:

Man, that's enough for now. As you can see, it's been an emotionally trying few days. Actually, the job, cancer and house all happened in two days, we've just been reeling from that for a week or so. But, all in all, our lives are good, our love is good, our God is good, so I think we're doing pretty good.
