...well, here's a new bit of news.

I have a job.

Do you remember that interview from a couple weeks ago? The one where they wanted me to quit Salishan and start in like four days? Well, they (the Monarch Hotel and Conference Center) called me back last Thursday. We played phone tag on Thursday, Friday, and yesterday. But then I finally talked to the HR director yesterday, and she offered me the job! So, I'll have four days off between Salishan and starting at the Monarch. What does this mean for me?

Pros: I have a job! I'll have only a few days off, not weeks of job searching with no income. I'll have 40+ hours a week. I'll have three-day weekends. I'll have a job that will give me supervisory experience, serving experience, and bartending experience - all things I need to buff up on my resume anyway. I'll have days open to go back and take a couple classes at Multnomah, and maybe even finish there someday soon. I'll have benefits!

Cons: I'll be working swing shift, 4pm to 2am or whenever the bar slows down. I'll be working Thursday through Sunday nights, which means my weekend evenings are taken. (Small group, dates with Kelly, and watching my friends play music all suffer on this one) The place doesn't feel quite right... (I was talking to Kelly about it this weekend, and I said it feels like the cafeteria in a retirement home...)

Overall, I'm still really excited about it. I'm also excited that I'm mature and intelligent enough to deal with those cons, and others I don't see just yet. It's not a bad thing to know lame things about your job, it helps you deal with them going into it.

So, anyway, thank you all who've been praying for me! I'll be moving back during the first part of next week, back into the same house I lived in before. We should have a party!
